Dell 4500

I wanted to know since the Dell machines come with an awful case is there a way to cool it. I would like to add fans or do something to help it out. It seems to run hot. I went to some cpu stores and they sell extra case fans, some hard drive cooler thing with 3 little fans and I also saw this thing in the back by antec that is like a blower.

I know these might not be the way to cool a system but I am limited as far as I can tell. Any ideas would be great. If I get just a fan where could I put it? I cant cut the case since its all plastic around it and I would screw it up. If I put it inside would that do any good or just blow hot air around?

Thanks

What you want to do is a simple case Mod. Installing a Blow hole.

Do this in the side and I recommend that the one you put in the side you have blow in and put one on the top or back of the case blowing out.

Real simple to do. This one listed here is in the top of the case blowing out. But try that one 1st and see if you cool alot better.

if you just add fans in the inside all you will do is blow hot air around. The blow hole is easialy done, Just take your time and it will only cost under 20 bucks.

I would do a blow hole if the case was like everyone elses. Mine is the BLACK Dell. It is encased in a horrible tough plastic. Cutting a hole in this would be tough to do and make it look right. I appreciate the help though

Do you have a Dremel?

Buy one, they are great and can cut anything, cut a smaller hole then use a file to make it the right size, it will look alright.

Yeah I have a Dremel. I am not to skilled with it. Best I leave it alone for awhile. I may ask someone in my area who is good at modding to help me out.

Thanks

yeah just buy a fan and one of those grills, and measure out the circle, then ask someone to but it. you may even want to take it to like a machine shop or a woodshop to cut that.

Shouldn't be that much for them to cut a circle
