I have two IDE optical drives, I want one of the drives to be converted to SATA. I bought an adapter that converts IDE drives to SATA. I have enabled the SATA controller and I hooked up the adapter to my IDE drive. Every thing went fine. My computer showed that it was a TDK 5200b drive and had the right drive letter. Now my problem is this, Everytime I put a disk in the drive everything just freezes up, even the mouse. I have to restart my computer to get everything back to normal. This happens everytime I put a disk in the drive. What could possibly be the problem. I've tried everything to stop it from freezing with no luck. The adapter says it will convert a ATA HDD/CDRom and DVD Devices to SATA Interface. The Adapter is made by Best Connectivity. Does anybody know what's happening. Why is my system freezing when I put a disk in the drive. I need help before I go crazy.

Wouldn't have been easier to just buy a SATA optical drive? Why do you need two anyway?

BTW, since you needed the adapter, does that mean you already have 4 other IDE/PATA devices installed?

did the converter need any drivers installed? did you download the most recent drivers from the manufacturer's website?
an optical sata drive would only be like, 20 bucks...
