i need to convert a dvd into an mpeg for one of my school projects. i had thought that dvd decrypter could, but i haven't been able to find the option. does anyone know of any program that can convert it to mpeg, that's free? thanks in advance.

Which mpg? 1 or 2? Machine at school that plays mpg from dvd conversion will need to handle ac3 audio. Vob files run thru dvd2avi (makes a video and audio file) and then back together with virtual dub, allows you to choose type of audio file. Mpg files from vob are going to be same size, sooo...cds arent that big. Post back info and we can go from there. The target machine is the key here.
