Continuing cooling fan question

OS: WinXP Home w/SP2
CPU/Ram: P4 3.06GHz w/ 1G RAM

OK, on the mobo, a 3-pin connector is labeled "sys fan". If I purchase a 12Vdc smart fan with a sensor (3 wires,right) then that fan will be powered from the above mentioned 3-pin connector, correct? And should show sys fan RPM on Sandralite or whatever, right?

If you find you're going 'round in circles, perhaps you're cutting corners.
