I've been messing with this thing all day. It keeps powering up and down. Sometimes it will boot up for a few minute and the power down , then reboot again and again. I talked to the local PC Club and they said replace the PSU. I did, nothing same thing.
I have reseated and switched the RAM in their slots. Still the same. They also suggested a bad power on switch. Could this be it or could it be the CPU itself.

I had the same thing happen to me. I had the PSU replaced, that fixed the problem. Maybe its a problem with the motherboard power suppy input port. IT could also be the outlet you are plugged into. Try going to a different outlet or even bring the PC to a friend's house if you can. You could have faulty wiring, but doubtful. But it could also be that they sent you another faulty PSU.
Oh, check the PC BIOS and see if u have the temp warning turned on, it may be going down because it is getting too hot or something.

It is also possible that windows is cumming up with some sort of error also.
In some cases this will reboot your pc.
Go to My Computer right mouse click on the C drive icon, select properties and run a disk check to make sure your hard drive, hasent developed any problems.
If the thing tells you that a check has been sheduled for next reboot, restart your pc.
Checkdisk will run , and the comp will reboot after it has finished.

A virus could be causing problems. First check for a heat problem. Fans all turning, CPU not getting too hot! Does the power on switch seem the same as always? If it is sticking in part way that will cause a problem as mentioned. Can you boot into Safe Mode? If so try running a virus program that is updated. This isn't by chance a new system build? If so, then make sure it is grounded properly.

Windows XP

just follow the above suggestions to check your system first. However, there is a case when the computer got a spyware or virus, it exceeds the "virtual memory" more than twice so the computer will restart by itself.
