Conputer won't power on

June 23, 2011 at 07:48:36
Specs: Windows 7
My Dell XPS all of a sudden decided not to power on.
I came home and attempted to bring it out of power saver mode, I could here the fan at that time but it wouldn't turn over when i sent inputs through the mouse or keyboard. I turned the box off and tried to bring it up, but the power button would only flash yellow and nothing would happen.

I opened up the box to see if possibly i had a loose connection somewhere, and all seemed well.
With it the box plugged in, i notice the LED lights on the motherboard are on, however, when I attempt to turn it on, the fans make an attempt to spin but after a rotation or two die off.

I want to hope that it's the power supply, but the LEDs on on the motherboard have me thinking that it might possibly be something else. I probably won't know until I try to replace it, but i wanted to see what people had to say

its a very possible reason for the power supply to be dead. to be sure of this test the psu on another system and check if the system turns on. if the machine turned on than ur problem is not with the psu and could be the motherboard the itslef, however if the machine did not turn on then i suspect the psu. lets not jump to conclusions test the psu and post ur results

computers are a second home
