Connecting monitor Question

Specs: Windows 7
hey, i have a question about connecting my monitor to my computer.

recently i just purchased a new computer and a new monitor: Samsung LED S22A350H and i connected it to my computer's video card ( AMD HD 6450). now my question is, seeing as the video card has 2 inputs ( DVI and HDMI) and my monitor has VGA and HDMI inputs ,and that the monitor only comes with a D-Sub Cable (VGA to VGA) am i correct in connecting the D-Sub cable, to a DVI to VGA adapter then to my video card? i mean, does this affect the quality as it's technically a VGA analogue signal? should i go and purchase a HDMI cable ( which would mean 1 cable for connection, from monitor to computer) instead?

Yes. In a nutshell steer clear of adapters if you can.
