I am trying to connect an IBM TravelStar HDD to my Desktop PC. This is a HDD from a compaq Armada Laptop and has an EIDE interface. I have a standard 2.5" to 3.5" IDE cable but the connection on this one is different. It looks more like a PCMCIA or small SCSI adapter than an IDE adapter
can anyone recommend a cable that will do allow me to connect this to my desktop PC. This is for the purpose of recovering data

Is the drive in a Compaq case. A lot of the laptops use a holder that connects inside the machine and has an adapter that matches to their connector standard. If you open it up you will find the drive inside with the connectors like your 2.5 to 3.5 adapter has. All of the 2.5 drives I have installed had standard plugs with adapters for the brand of laptop.
