Connecting an external hard drive

I have a small extenal hard which I wish to connect to my computer which runs XP The hard drive has no manufacturers name other than it was made in Chiuna S/N 26013347 N12344. Any ideas, it is connect by USB to rear of computer.

Does this small HD have USB port similar to THIS? If not, it is not a USB external HDD.

Regard the USB output, yes it has and it is at present connected to my computer. The light is on next the the USB on the extenal drive. This drive was used on an Apple portable before it was given to me. Allen

OK Windows is blind to Apple file system. You probably will need to format it to make it work with Windows.
