Connect turtle beach to PC and XBOX

Specs: Windows 7
Hi, I have a turtle beach x12 headphone and wants to connect it to both PC and XBOX at the same time. I have bought 1x female to 2xmale 3.5mm splitter from amazon. Basically, I've connect both PC and XBOX to my headphone, but its audio output reduce more than half. What I want to do here is to increase the output audio to where it was originally. Or if anyone has any other ideas, please lay it out.

If possible, I want a device could connect two 3.5mm (male)to one 3.5mm(female) and a switch to turn off specific input. For example, I want to cancel out XBOX feedback for a moment while keep PC running. Like a button or some sort.

ps. I don't have much budget so the cheaper the better.
ps2. I have most equipment to DIY some projects.

You can't connect two active power outputs to one load without them loading each other. The best solution is a mixer with amplifier. You could make a switch box. Manual or automatic using VOX or ALC switching.

Any idea how to build one? Or where can I buy one? Actually, Can you explain what is VOX and ALC? Let's say I'm a total noob at building this kind of thing. If possible, guide me step to step ^^

VOX - Voice Operated Switch ALC - Automatic Level Conrol VOX the active input channel would be turned on. You best bet would be an audio mixer. You can buy or make with a few ic's.
