connect pc to tv

i have a new tv with a pc channel when i switch on my pc i get the normal start up picture on the tv then the screen goes blank and i get a message on the tv saying no signal please help

Adjust the resolution of your PC. It would appear the PC is putting out a hi-res signal that the TV can't handle. Read the TVs manual to see what resolutions it can handle and match your PC to that.

I can vouch for StuartS's solution , I had the same problem untill I checked the TV resolution and matched it. I'm using Vista but XP should have the same options to select the required resolution.

i do believe the most common HD tv res for pc's is 1360x768 - a truly lame res.
