connect pc DVD-ROM to television??

hello ppls... can some one please tell me how can i connect my computer's DVD-ROM to my television...i wanna do this so that i can play any avi, wmv, mpg etc. files straight to television.
i know a friend who's connected his CD ROM in his car to play mp3's so i thought there must be a way to connect DVD-ROM to tv.
any help on circuit diagram or anything relavent would be appriciated.

If you have a video card with TV-out, you can easily connect your PC to a television.

Forget it. A Computer DVD needs a computer to get the signal out.

Just buy a cheap DVD player.
There are no TVs with IDE jacks on them. (lol)
And even if there were TVs with IDE jacks, you'd still need a decoder. Remember, a PC DVD drive doesn't have any built in MPEG-2 (DVD) decoder; it relies on the PC's host processor to do that.
