Conflicting IRQ problem on sound and video cards?

November 14, 2012 at 12:40:43
Specs: Windows 14.03.2011, 2.13 ghz / 3gb ram
Wav volume slider goes all the way down by itself..
As of 11/01/2012 my wav volume slider goes all the way down by itself randomly and I've noticed that video (Nvidia 9400 GT) and sound card (Realtek HDA) share the same IRQ (16).
As a matter of fact I have like 4-5 on IRQ 16. I believe this is a problem but not 100% sure.
I think I should change sound cards IRQ to it's own slot but want to make sure and find out exactly how to do so.
Any help would be greatly apprieciated as this is driving me nuts.
Windows XP is my OS. Drivers are all updated.

IRQ sharing shouldn't be a problem, here's an article about it from Microsoft - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314068

Ok, thankyou. I'll try to figure out why this is happening.

If your sound is actually a card then move it to a different available slot and that should change the IRQ for it. If the sound is integrated on the motherboard there isn't much you can do.
