Hi. I got myself a small home network between two computers (soon to be three) using a Linksys 4-port Router. When my friends and I try to play internet games, I an unable to Host any games. This occurs on both computers on my network. My friends, however, are able to host a game.
What would be the correct way to configure my router so that I may host games and if so, are there any speed tweaks available to improve the game connection speeds and performance?

Why not ask your friends how they do it?

Hi are you aware your linksys has a built in fire wall? usually NAT based. games generally run on a nuber of ports , you can either find out what they are and configure the linksys so thise ports are open/forwarded, or put the pc that you play games on out side the DMZ , ie out side the NAT firewall, open to the internet. tho i think you might run into problems if all of your pc's connected to the Linksys are games machines for that purpose, depends on your bandwidth and the game.

My friends do not have a network or linksys router.
Thanks for the tips. I'll have to try and find out what ports the games run on and forward them.
