We were gone for 4 days, & when we returned, the computer would not turn on. The DSL lights are flashing, but the monitor says no input. The switch seems to make a clicking sound, but that is all. We changed te PSU, but still won't turn on.
Bye the way - my wireless laptop still works - on same network.

Thank you!

Hi,
The PSU is properly set
I purchaased an Antec PSU, which I was told would replace the original Bestec.
I do have a surge protecter on.
The weather was rainy, but as far as I know, there was no power surge in our area.

Thank you!

HI:The obvious thing to do is:

Open the box (which you have done) and push anything that looks like
a plug, card, processor or RAM into the socket.

Power on...does the fan go around? If not, check the fuse. If thats OK
could be the power supply is bust.

If the fan goes around, can you hear the disk being accessed? If not
then the computer is not running and just about anything could be at fault.
Finally: It Sounds like Your Hard drive or the IDE Controller has gone South
Try your HDD in another Computer
If your HDD is Still Fine then Perhaps your CPU or your Video Card
Bon Courage...
Bon Courage..

It appears that everything is plugged in properly, but the computer does not power on. The power supply is new. It was just installed yesterday.

Thank you!

as far as I know they are -
Could the problem be in the power switch?

Thank you!

That's real possible, and as{poweraid} pointed out "could be the power supply is bust"May really be a bad PSU.

The motherboard checks the output of the power supply and won't let it come up completely if it detects a problem. So it could be a motherboard problem.
Try reseating the motherboard power connector.

1. first of all, as stupid as this sounds, verify that the switch on the back of the PSU is switched ON. The PSU's that come with computers often times do not have a switch, but almost all aftermarket PSU's have a power switch (that will by default be turned off), and may be wired wrong, so attempt to turn on the comp with the switch in BOTH positions.

2. if you suspect a bad power switch (although i doubt that this is the problem) find the power connector pins (trace the power switch wires back to the board) and touch a flathead screwdriver to the 2 pins (which will act as a switch)

3. if you suspect a bad power supply, you can also check that as well, unplug the PSU's power cord, and unplug all connectors from the computer (so that the PSU is not connected at either end to anything at all), next plug the PSU power cord in, then (using a short jumper wire) on the ATX power connector (the 20 or 24 pin power connector), connect the green wire to the black wire right next to it... if the power supply turns on, then it is fine and the problem lies in your motherboard.

Don't put a question here.
