Was there actually a loud POP noise? I'm quite sure that's your power supply, you'll need a new one if there was an audible pop and your pc won't turn on.

Try getting a good one, perhaps an Antec, they're more reliable than off-brand $19.99 ones. Make sure you can return it in case it doesn't fix the problem.

Yeah it sounds like your power supply. Just to be sure go into the adim tools and event viewer and look in system tab if you see an X look at the time and if the time took is dated around when your system shut off, then double click the event where the X is and click on the microsoft error link or copy the evenr error id and do a googler search on it.

Did you buy an old one, or did you put in an old one you had laying around? That sounds bad. I felt about as scared when I literally RIPPED my P4 right out of its socket due to thermal paste. TWICE.
