I was installing Windows 98 on an old NEC powermate pro 2200. We had the case off as we originally had problems with the cd rom. The componant that the led light that flashes to indicate that the hard drive is working (not sure of the technical name) was hanging out of the case. When I was walking past the pc while it was loading up Windows, my shirt caught on this component, hit up against the metal on the front of the case and that was that - no power - did I fry the darn thing or can it be saved? I don't know if I shorted it out or if it can be reset somehow. I have switched out power cords and the obvious...................

I think you may have caught the power to the Mobo, try reinsertinge everything. Hope this helps christine!
