Some power supplies have a manual power switch that would be on the rear of the computer at the back of the power supply and you may have accidentally switched it off when reaching for the power cord. If this is not the case, then look to make sure that the end of the power cord that plugs into the computer is completely inserted.
Unplugging the computer AFTER properly turning it off cannot have caused damage to your system. Test the outlet with another device, check the circuit breaker in the house if it does not work. If everything above tests OK and only the computer does not work, you may need to have the computer's power supply and possibly other components tested. If you are not able to do this yourself and friends cannot help, then bring it in for service, especially if it is a system under warranty.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
