Strange problem, computer won't start unless I unplug the monitor from the back of the pc. When I unplug it and reboot the pc, the computer will start at which time I plug the monitor back in and the display works as normal as does the operating system. Any ideas anyone.
Cheers

Hot plugging a monitor is a sure fire method of frying your graphics card. It sounds like it has a problem anyway. When the monitor is unplugged but powered up do you get an onscreen error message about "Signal out of range" or similar? That is a sign of a working monitor with bad or no connection to a graphics card.
If you have access to another graphics card try it and see if you still have the problem

I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

Your display adapter may be loose in its MOBO slot. With the power off and the computer unplugged, reaseat it and see if things improve.

Suggest try a PCI or AGP graphics card if you can.

You also might consider trying a different monitor.
