My brother took his computer from upstairs in his house to downstairs and when he plugged it all in the computer started up but the monitor said no signal being received. When i had a look at it, the computer powers up but it doesn't sound like actually boots up. Please help someone.

Try removing the residual power from the computer and the monitor.
Disconnect everything.Unplug all.
Hold power button down for two minutes on the computer and then the monitor.
Just connect the monitor back up only with the computer, see if it posts.
Make sure no parts were jiggled loose inside your case.
If no go it may be the power supply went.
Good Luck

Remove everything (hdd, pci ports, etc) but memory, video and micro and see if it posts. If not, there seems to be a problem either with your MB or your micro. One way of checking if your MB BIOS is still alive is to remove the memory modules, turn on your pc and see if you get a beep code. Good luck!

Check if you hear any beeps coming from your computer when you press the power button. If so, count the number of beeps and find a website with the explenation. The beeps are motherboard-language and explain what is wrong with the computer. If you don't hear any beeps than probably the power supply is damaged or even other parts in your computer. Good luck
