|Reboot into Safe Mode with Networking. Then go to Gateway's site and get the correct drivers for your system for your operating system. Install them and reboot.|
You mention XP and then Vista Disk and under Specs you list Windows 7. What operating system you have matters. If you have Windows 7 but Gateway does not have drivers for Windows 7 for your system, you may try Vista drivers (sometimes they will work as long as both are 32bit or 64bit), but do not bother with XP drivers for either Vista or Windows 7. If only XP drivers are available, you will should probably end up with XP back on your system.
You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
