About a month ago i tried to replace the heatsink on my computer. It wouldnt post, and i put the heatsink on the wrong way so i figured that the cpu was cracked. I got a replacement and put it in by the book. It still won't post. Iv'e had my computer for 3 months and it was working fine, and i built it. Any suggestions if anything else is brokem or what i forgot to do?

This may be stupid, but have you checked that all the power cables, IDE connectors etc are properly located: and in the correct place.
Are you getting and BEEPS from the system speaker?
If in doubt, GO to a shop and ask for help.
It may be that when you stuffed around with the cooling of the CPU you actually damaged the MOBO. Whatever you do it will be worth the time visiting an expert.

Ya, I just sent it to the shop today. I hope the mobo isnt damaged, cuz thats another 150 dollars shot, plus fee for the tech support.

I have the same problem - same setup i think lol .. :\ (built myself)
ECS K7S5A v3.1
AthlonXP 1800(1.5ghz)
512mb PC2100 DDR
Geforce4 Ti4200
420w PowerWin PS(week old)
I have another system I was working on, trying to get it to POST and it won't either. Same M.B., a little slower CPU, no RAM or cables, just Video & NIC.
I just bought this M.B.Thing is, *my* computer was working fine, so I figured I'd test my cpu in the other computer. So while I was at it, I put the other CPU in my computer to see if the CPU was bad. Didn't POST - either PC. So I put my CPU back in my PC & tried to boot - no POST.
Hours of frustration :\ nothing

oh btw, no beeps or anything - it didn't even beep when it booted before.
And it seems to continuously reboot before POSTing. I have a cd-rom & cdr drive connected & the lights come on, you hear them spin, then they go off, & back on, spins, etc..
I tried opening the drives, they start to open, stop, then close (caused by rebooting)Anyone have a suggestion? I refuse to take it to a tech ;)
