Hi all,

I got an Epox 8K5A2+ board a while ago and its been going beautifully. Today I got hold of a new case and spent the morning transferring all the guts into the new case. I assembled it all and switched it on......

The screen stays blank. The machine beeps - 1 beep about 4 secs long, followed by a pause of about 4 secs. This goes on repeatedly until it gives me a headache.

The LCD indicator mounted on the mobo reads 'C0' for a fraction of a sec when I hit the power switch to turn it on. It then reads 'C1' and beeps.

The Epox POST codes list this as either a RAM 'SPD' timings issue or a bad RAM error which is strange, because in shifting all the parts to the new case I did not remove or even touch the RAM module. I also excersized the extreemest of care while doing all this so I find it hard to beleive I've trashed the board. In the case of 'bad SPD settings', Epox suggests I set RAM timings manually. I have no idea what SPD is all about and as the machine won't post, I can't look in the CMOS for settings to play with. I've also tried wiping the CMOS. I've since taken out the RAM and put it in again - with no success. I've also tried removing everything but the CPU, RAM, Drives and GFX card (in varying combinations)

I'm also using the following bits:

256MB 2100 DDR RAM
AMD Duron 1GHZ
Creative Blaster nVidia Geforce4 MX420
Seagate Barracuda 60GB HDD
HP CD burner
Liteon DVD Rom
Intel Ham Modem

Please help!!!!!!

1 long beep repeated is usually a problem with the MoBo or CPU.

Make sure the MoBO is not shorting out somewhere on the new case.

Did you ground yourself properly when moving the parts? ESD "electrical static discharge" will render almost and board useless.

Try moveing back to your old case if all else fails.
