Ok so my main computer just got wiped and fixed and gets internet at my friends house with his usb wireless linksys, but I brought it home and tried to set it up as I always have via ethernet cable from my linksys to my computer, it wont work. I dont get internet but its not my ethernet cable or modem / router because I have my other computer right near it I hooked everything up too and got internet and no problems, so I came to the conclusion I have to set up the modem or router to my newly wiped computer? If so I dont no how please help.

Have you installed the (correct) drivers for your ethernet adapter? Check in Device Manager & see if your adapter's listed or has an excalmation mark against it.
