One of the computers here at work has a hard time waking up. It usually gives trouble even coming back from sleep mode when in Windows. You can move the mouse around for a good 2-3 minutes before it wakes up and the screen goes back to the desktop.

Also, I dont think this is related, but when the computer powers on or reboots, it sometimes takes a good 5-10 tries before you can see anything on the screen. You can hear it booting up by the normal computer beeps, but theres nothing on the screen. Ive already replaced the video card and cables. Also I checked the monitor. Its not any of those.

Its an older Gateway 1.2 Ghtz computer with about a gig of ram.

I dont think the two problems are related, but I may be wrong. Anyone? Thanks

Not sure if this is related but I had this problem on a corporate Dell GX150 but I appeared to cure it when, for quite another reason I had to change the HDD and reghost the image onto it. My guess? I think it may have had trouble reading the hiberfil.sys file off the failing HDD.
Just a thought.
Regards.

If it's a desktop PC, you should not be using sleep, hibernate, standy. Those settings are for laptops/notebooks & can cause problems with desktop systems. Disable them & adjust your power option settings
