Hi,
The other day, my computer froze - wouldn't respond to the keyboard or anything. I powered it down, then tried to power it back up, and it won't boot...the monitor doesn't come out of sleep mode either.
Currently, all the lights on the DVD drive, CD-RW drive, and Floppy go on, and you can hear it access the Floppy. Beyond that, however, it doesn't seem to do anything. It just stalls at that point. I've checked the monitor to make sure it works, it seems fine. I checked to make sure the video card was seated properly, and the fan is running on it. All the fans - CPU, power supply - seem to be working properly. I have two 256 sticks of RAM in there, I pulled the second stick, and also tried swapping out the first stick with the second stick.
I'm not getting any beeps or anything.
This is my system:
Compaq
AMD Athlon 833 MHz
512 MB RAM
Windows XPAny ideas about what might be wrong with it or what I should try next?
Thanks!

First question, is it overclocked? If so, bust out you mobo manual and set the jumper to reset your bios. If that's not it, sounds like something may be loose like a cable or jumper or your video card might be bad.

Sound's exactly like the problem I had with a friends computer a while ago.
There it was a broken cable between power supply and mainboard connector.Try another power supply, it may help !!!
