Comment: I ran sfc /scannow two days ago. The computer needed the xp disk, so I left it on that screen, as I wasn't sure where it was. It must have restarted while I was gone, because when I came back, the computer was locked on a screen stating, Windows Is Starting Up. It stayed that way for about 30 minutes, so I booted to safe mode, which took about 5 minutes to do. When I tried to reboot, it stalled again. So I started to disconnect things. I can boot to windows when I disconnect my slave hard drive. I run it off of a pci ata adaptor, as my motherboard only has one ide controller onboard and that's running the CD Rom's that are installed. Any idea's why the computer won't run with my secondary hard drive now? If you need more information, let me know. I'm not near my computer at the moment, so I'm trying to get some ideas together for when I have time to work on it.

Reply: (edit)Reconnect while unplugged and watch the startup screens to see if the drives are all identified in the startup screens. Your second drive may have died. Also check device manager once in Windows to see if all is well with the controller card.
