Bought a firewire card but after inserting in a PCI slot my computer won't boot at all. Remove it and it does fine. I even tried several PCI slots. Same thing. Thoughts? Thanks.

Some stock computers like HP (especially for me) don't like afer market products. I would go with another brand of firewire card or maybe the Firewire/PCI combo. PSU is also something to look at as Ryan mentioned. It's either a conflict with a particular brand of aftermarket parts, bad card, small PSU, or bad PCI slots.

What's a Firewire/PCI combo? Do you mean a Firewire/USB combo?
Thanks.

Nope. Just bought an Adpatec firewire card and get the same results. PC won't boot into Windows XP. I even took out some of my other PCI cards and no change. Thoughts? Is there something about my MB that's causing this?
