my computer won't boot up...I can hear it running, but the keyboard, monitor all goes dead after 1 second when I turn power off and back on again to try and boot computer. The green power light doesn't come on either, but there is a tiny orange light that is on all the time and it didn't used to be on. is it a power problem? All the fans are running and I hear the computer humming but thats it. nothing is on.

Kind of hard to tell. Look at boot for any lights blinking. The normal boot process tests stuff before any thing is loaded. If no keyboard flashes or hard drive blinks then it is failing post tests. Time to check power supply. I remove every thing from MB. I put back only minimum card, memory and video and try again.
"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
