Subject: Computer will not turn on. OS: WinXP CPU/Ram: P4 2.8/1GB Ram

Comment: I recently set up my new computer a couple days ago, and have been trying to figure out why my computer just will not turn on. Here are some of my specs: Pentium 4 2.8C ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe Motherboard Aspire X-Dreamer II Turbo Case 1 GB DDR 400 Corsair RAM Turbolink 350W ATX Powersupply Here's the problem: I set up everything the way it should, and I know that it can't be the motherboard because the green light is lit after I plug it in with the power cord. This also means that the power supply is working. I've always thought it was the panel on the motherboard and was playing around with it, just to see if it will turn. I did follow instructions from the motherboard manual correctly, but it still won't turn on. Any comments/suggestions to go about this would be great thanks.

Reply: (edit)Sometimes if you have the "clear bios pin" set in the wrong position it will not boot up. To throw an idea at you. Nothing comes to mind. You'll need to make sure all the components all work if you have another computer. Then if everything checks out. This is when I'll be stumped,I will then take everything apart, including the motherboard from case. And put everything together again, being carful to get everything right. If it still fails to boot up, it is very likely the motherboard is faulty. THe last time this happened to me I found a screw stuck under the motherboard. With the screw removed, everything went smoothly after that. T

Reply: (edit)The CPU Fan and the AGP card are connected correctly. Thanks you guys for your help. I will go ahead and take everything out even the motherboard and start from scratch again. I don't think the motherboard is faulty because when I set it up, the green indicator light was on, but when I pressed the power button, the computer won't turn on. So I know the motherboard is ok as well as the power supply.

Reply: (edit)He means you should check if you correctly connected the power switch on the case to the pin headers on the motherboard.
