computer will not boot up so i can format the hard disk

Specs: Windows vista home premium oemact, 2 gb
i im trying to re-format my hard disk and when i turn it on it brings me to the phoenix trusted core setup utility and were is states the primary storage is reads none when i click the f9 to setup defaults and then save it and it will restart and bring you to a bois mode and boot menu but both bring me right back to the setup utility all i want to do it format the laptop and re-install window vista

It doesn't appear your hard drive is being recognized. It may have failed or it may have been knocked loose. Why are you attempting to reformat? Could it be the problem you were having was because the drive was on it's way out?

Do you have the vista cd in the drive and is it set in the bios to boot off the cd first?

Is it a sata drive, new or old?

I would put the setup cd in and see what happens. If it too says no hd, try a different hd.

You may also try getting the free manufactures hd setup cd and give it a shot.
