Computer turns off when cd is inserted

I have no idea whats going on! As soon as i insert a cd into my computer the screen goes black, then tries to boot from the cd. this screen stays up until i take out the disk, at which point the computer restarts. Any ideas anyone?

No this doesnt seem to apply, when the cd is inserted the screen goes black and says "Boot from cd :" however if u press any keys it will go black again and return to the message.
