I posted a couple of days ago and did not get one of my questions answered. The question was if I have a Ati 9600 with DVI and S-Video output how good would the signal be to the TV. Sorry I will explain what I want, I am going to put the computer beside my home entertainment system. I want to be able to play videos from my computer to my TV, as well as surf the internet. I just wanted to know how good it would look on the TV and is there a length limit for DVI cable? Is there anywhere to buy an extension cable for DVI. I will be using a projector on the ceiling.

Thanks for the help again.

I the Geforce2 mx tv-out of my older system connected to my vhs videorecorder. With the original software the picture is quite bad with a black edge so I use a special software (TVtool 6 - TV control center 2000 on another system but it didn't work with my old slot1 board) that allows to work in the so called overlay mode. This gives a much better picture quality but the problem is that the picture becomes bigger so you can't see the edges anymore.

It's very good for viewing movies but as you can't see the taskbar and the upper control elements in windows a big pain for working with it as computer.

The other problem is that the TV only has 352x288 (or something very near!) dots on the screen so even with overlay mode the texts aren't really good to read. Without overlay it's even worse.
It may work with 640x480 point setting on your system but then it's not that nice to surf the net in that setting as most site are done for 800x600 or 1024x768 !
