Solved Computer stuck (dead) after 25 mins

July 31, 2011 at 14:41:43
Specs: Windows 7
Hello,

When started, my computer ran normally, but it appeared dead after about 25 mins, i.e. no response from mouse/keyboard, the moniter remained the last image.

I have to manually shut down the computer. Interestly, if I started the computer up right after, it won't stay long (within minutes it appeared dead again). It could run 25 mins again when I let it stay several hours or more.

What component (or components) might be wrong?

Thanks in advance

I wouldn't do anything with the RAM yet. See if there is anything in the event viewer/

Start, run, eventvwr, press enter. Look for error messages.

It could be overheating. Make sure that both fans are running.

Yep, I'd agree with guapo. Sounds like an overheating issue. Purchase a can of compressed air and clean it out really well, as well as checking the fans.

Thanks for the replies. I tried your suggestions... this time I opened the cover, again after about 25 mins it appeared dead. I observed that all fans were working normally. I placed my hand close (really close) to the computer but did not feel there's sign of overheating.

I did notice that when it's about to stuck, it ran really slow, e.g. it took almost a minute to open a folder. Is it a sign of Ram problem?

What else could be wrong?

Thanks again.
