Computer stays on however monitor turns off.

Specs: N/A

My monitor goes on standby randomly while my computer is still on. Once it does that, the computer doesn't work, it stays on but you can't do anything even when pressing keyboard keys. What should I do? It is a windows xp.

Go into Control Panel > Power Options and disable standby for the monitor.

It is already disabled. And the monitor isn't just off, it's like the computer stops working too even though it is on. What do I do?

Does the monitor go on standby or does it lose signal from the PC?

There are a number of possible reasons for the system to halt that way and these include possible overheating of either the CPU or GPU, failure of he CPU fan, Intermittent fault in powersupply Does your system have onboard graphics( Integrated in the motherboard) or a discrete graphics card? Please provide a detailed description of the system including brand name/make/model of motherboard, CPU, ram & Graphics as well as powersupply model & specifications.

Do you have any temperature monitoring software installed? Install Speedfan and report your system temps.

My monitor goes on standby and it kind of loses signal from the pc because nothing like alt+f4 or stuff like that works. Then when I keep trying to move the move to try and make it go back to normal, I can hear a beeping sound and then it becomes impossible to make the screen appear apart from turning off the computer and then turning it back on again. It is also hard for me to install anything because the monster hardly stays on for a long period of time.

You have not answered the other more pertinent questions. What are your system credentials and what temperatures are you getting?

try entering the bios and see if you can stay there without any problem:

check the temp:

It can't stay in the bios, it just does what it normally does and goes on standby.mWhat should I do? I can't check the temp because it hardly stays on in the bios and I can't install it because it wont stay on either.

OK if it is failing so soon after bootup it sure sounds like an overheating CPU issue.
I take it this is a desktop tower type system and not a laptop? It is time to open the case and clean out the dust & dirt. An Air duster ( can of compressed air) is the best method but you may need to use a small brush to dislodge some of the worst from heatsinks/fans.

Did you get to check the temperatures while you had it working?

Sorry I couldn't because I tried to download it after a lot of time as I couldn't find where to download it, but when I clicked on the site, it just turned off. Also, you know you told me how to get to the BIOS, can you tell me exactly so I can do it because I can't find how to get to it.

I think that it all started once I played a game on the computer for a very long time. At least 4 hours... It just randomly turned off while I was playing, so I kept turning it on and before I knew it, it was like this. It may have something to do with me playing the game for very long I think. What should I do?

I also have the same problem too. Especially it happens while i play some games and not longer the Monitor Screen turns off and the CPU is still working but I can't do anything with keyboard and I only can turn off the switch... So, Ashwin23 do you still have the problem after changing Video Card?
