I have a DELL Dimension 4800 with Pentium 4HT, and 2Gigs of DDR400 RAM, an AGP video card, and 1 HDD. this computer has just recently started to act up.
When you shut-down it normally shuts down as it always did, goes dark, then tries to turn itself back on, and after the third "rev" of the power supply is succesful in turning itself back on. (I have a colored fan inside, so it's kinda neat to watch)
If you have the plug unplugged, and then plug it back in after several hours, it will again "rev" the power supply, but isn't able to start-up on it's own, only when you push the button. It's the strangest thing, and I'm usually pretty good with fixing anything, but even I've never heard of this. I think I need a Priest.
I checked for virus & Spyware/malware, and there was none. It only starting doing it, when I was trying to add a 2nd drive, and even after I didn't install it, it still kept right on doing this. Oh the screen did go completely dark once, just prior to this event occuring the first time. I was working on something, then boom, it was as if I'd lost all power.
But it works, whenever I plug it in, and push the button. No operational errors while running either.

I don't have a LAN. I don't think I do. Nah this is just come on all of a sudden. I was switching out harddrives, the screen went blank as though it had lost all connection, and then this started happening, where it Rev's the power supply until you press the on button to get it going. Very strange, it's gotta be a loose something.
