computer shutting down and giving alarm noise

Specs: Windows XP, 448

my computer is randomly shutting down and
giving a noise like a siren. what's going on??? i
have to unplug it to make it stop. HELP

Unplug the power supply of your system and try removing the RAM from its socket and reinstall it. Hope it works.

Your problem is not with your RAM, leave it be.

Your CPU is overheating or the alarm setting is set too low.

Your case may be full of dust/dirt or the CPU fan is failing. Open the case and have a look unless you are still under warranty. In which case you should call for tech support.

You can install a temperature monitoring program. Try speedfan. Get it at the link below.

If you find dust/dirt then blow the case and power supply out with canned or compressed air. Do not use a vacuum cleaner on a computer. This will be messy. You may want to move the tower outside.

The alarm setting are located in the BIOS (setup) screens under PC Health.
