Computer screen turns a solid color and loses signal

Specs: Windows Vista 32 Bit, 2 ghz dual core/2 gb ram
I recently had a nasty virus on my computer. Had to start over with a new install.

I'd say once a day, maybe more sometimes, my screen turns a solid color, and the monitor loses signal. The color it turns always matches the general color scheme of whatever I'm on when it happens. For example, if steam is open, it will turn dark gray. I've never had it happen during a game or fullscreen app such as Netflix.

A few seconds after it happens, my monitor loses signal and goes to standby. Moving the mouse doesn't do anything, and I have to reset the computer by holding the power button. Never had the problem before I had to reinstall. I hope it's just a driver issue. My graphics card is a GT430 1 GB I bought last November. Could anyone help me out here? Thanks!

I doubt it's a driver issue if it only occurs under certain conditions, but I could be wrong of course. Try installing the latest driver from nVidia's website s the one supplied with the card will be an old driver:
