Solved Computer screen problems on bootup?

February 17, 2013 at 19:45:14
Specs: Windows 7, 4 GB

This is the second time that this has happened to me. Upon restarting or booting up my computer, I log in fine, but after around 5 seconds of being on the desktop, the screen blurs and becomes unresponsive. It has also simply crashed and restarted upon logging in. The only way I have been able to fix this is by booting in safe mode or by constantly restarting the computer until it works. I don't believe it is a virus, as I have kaspersky antivirus, and I run frequent virus scans. The computer is an Acer Aspire V3-551 and the computer is about 7-8 months old. There are pictures on the imgur link bellow that show what the problem looks like, and what my desktop looks like normally. Does anyone know what this error is, what is causing it, or how I can fix it?

Many years ago I had a P3 system that had that kind of screen problem. At the time it was blamed on an under-performing powersupply. The graphics card in it failed soon after the powersupply was replaced. I doubt you have a software problem since it will sometimes behave normally. hardware components that affect the graphic performance include the PSU or the graphics adapter.

You should have stated you're asking about a notebook. Your problem is most likely with the graphics chip, not software, although it could also be due to bad RAM. You can try reinstalling the graphics drivers, if that doesn't fix it, return the laptop for repair or replacement. The graphics are built into the AMD A8 APU so to fix the problem, the laptop will have to be opened up & the APU replaced. See if this helps:
