Hello

1. Run an antivirus sweep of your ENTIRE system. Then run an antispyware programme such as SpyBot (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/) - it's free.

2. Check in Device Manager for the yellow coloured exclamation marks that show a device conflict. It could be that a device is not compatible, or the driver is not compatible. The driver may need to be reinstalled. Check with the various devices' manufacturers for any known incompatibilities

3. Run Scandisk to check for errors.

4. Defragment the Hard Drive.

5. Cut & Paste this URL into your browser & have a read of this article - it might help.

(It is the Uni of Indiana Knowledge Base.)

6. Go to Microsoft & search their Knowledge Base for articles.

7. Google search - there are heaps of help sites available.

Try a search for 'Computer running slow' (without the quote marks) to start yourself going.

If you have a gig there is no reason for you puter to start slow. What I would suggest is start>run>msconfig--startup tap--This is everything that starts with windows. Try to keep these to a minimum.(If you dont know what it is research it) You also need to see whats actually running, Do some reaseach on process viewers.(sorry I dont feel like it)And of corse do what bloodnok said.

run a virus scan on the entire system, downloiad, install, and run AdAware SE and Sbybot-S&D to make sure there is no spyware, run disk cleanup, then defragment it. also it couldn't hurt to run msconfig and see what startup programs are loading, running, and bogging the system down.

Argue for your limitations and sure enough, they're yours.

how many processes are running after starting up? open task manager and click on the processes tab, it will tell you here how many are running.
