Hi I really need help with this because my next step is taking a baseball bat to my computer. My computer restarts quite a lot when i am using it usually when i am playing games or copying cds but also when it is doing simple tasks such as running word. I have turned Automatic restart off in startUp and recovery menu and i now get a blue screen error message which reads at bottom technical information: stop: 0x0000008E(0xc0000005, 0x804F2906, 0xF6566768, 0x000000000) - I think it is a power supply problem but the manufacturor denies this (it was custom built) any help with this problem would be greatly received

Hapee, that link refers to an error whilst installing WinXP. PSU problems rarely give error messages. Your computer computer is restarting because windows tells it to. The link in response 1 says that it may be a RAM problem. I'd use memtest86 to eliminate that possibility. A poor quality PSU can cause RAM errors. As can an overheating CPU.

I agree with rimfire on the temp, go into the bios and see what the cpu temp is when it restarts.
