I have a computer that starts up, after i log on it will randomly restart itself.. and sometimes i will get the "start system normally, safe mode, etc. and sometimes not, also when i go to start computer normally it will show a stop error real quick.

To have XP display the error message instead of rebooting:
1. Click Start, and then right-click My Computer.
2. Click Properties.
3. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Settings under Startup and Recovery.
4. Under System failure, click to clear the Automatically restart check box.
5. Click OK, and then click OK.

SOunds like e memory issue, or running async possibly or the OS needs a fix (defrag-scandiskk to fix errors). Can be a loose IDE/SATA cable too. ALso it's common to get errors on an overclocked machine if not set up properly in the bios. Right click on my computer/properties/advanced/startup & recovery and uncheck "automatically restart" under system failure, then you can start to find out what's causing the error. Run memtest86 on you're memory and ckeck IDE/SATA cavles that they are snug and be sure you are running in sync with mem/cpu.
Possible causes are loose cable, bad stick of memory or the wroong bios setting for it, or a marginal power supply, or corrupted OS/drivers.
