Computer restarts itself rapidly

November 21, 2012 at 16:06:28
Specs: Windows 7

My computer resets itself automatically. Whenever i plug the adapter or battery in, it restarts itself. It turns on about 2 3seconds, the window doesnt even load yet, and turn off. Then turn on, it keeps doing it like magic. I can't even control it right now. Can't press f2 or f5 or whatever, because it restarts in 2 3 seconds. Please help.

So it's a laptop then? It's odd you'd say it restarts when you plug the battery in. Isn't the battery already in? Or if you're running it off the adapter and plugging the battery in when it's running, well I don't think that's a good idea.

Off the top of my head it sounds like a hardware issue if it is happening that fast and well before Windows loads.

None too hopeful but nothing lost by trying this bit of trickery:

With both the battery and mains plug removed, hold the power off/on button in for about 20 seconds or so. Sometimes residual stuff gets left in the chips (jargon is "flea power" if you care to look it up). Then restore the battery and mains and cross your fingers.

I thought it was bunkum at one time but it has helped me out once or twice.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

have you tried tapping f8 on bootup and done safemode with networking? If you can get into there, turn off automatically restart and then post the EXACT error that comes up when it bluescreens...
