Computer reboot over and over

Specs: Windows Vista

2 days ago my computer began doing something reallly weird. Its 6 months old and Ive always stored it on the shelf under my comp desk at night. But 2 days ago I noticed it was feeling "hot" in the back when I went to turn it on. It acted like it was going to boot up.. but didnt. It would repeatedly try to start and then it would begin the process to start again. It would continue to do this. My bf suggested I removed the battery to see if it would boot up that way. I tipped it up to look for the batter compartment and it started right up. Now if I want to start it, I have to "tip it", it wont even restart after and update without doing this. I have a chill pad under it when I used it during the day but this is the first time Ive noticed it getting so hot, esp when shut off. Any ideas as to whats going on?

Tip is suggestive of bad connection somewhere.

Dunno where to look but press and push and hold and tip until you get close maybe. Might be the ac plug has failed also.
