Hi, I am having a ever-increasing problem with my computer. When I am just on the desktop using Tune-Up Utilities to optimize my system (no games running and no resource-intensive processes operating at the time)...the computer just randomly shuts down!

I can almost guarantee that heating is not an issue. I am overclocked 7.5% (215FSB) and have the voltage to support it, have decent cooling and ventilation. GPU never gets above 70 degrees Celcius and CPU never breaks 50 degrees Celcius when in graphically-intense games (Mostly Call of Duty: World at War). My computer is clear of dust.

I am not hitting the computer to cause it to shut down. There was absolutely no contact made with the computer when these shutdowns occur.

When I try to restart the system after these mysterious crashes, it will not boot. The only remedial attempt I have made to make the computer boot again is removing the BIOS battery for 10 minutes then replacing it back into the system.

If anyone can shed some insight into my problem and a possible fix, I would be grateful.

What Tune-Up Utilities are you referring to ? If it's Nvidia's Ntune-that's been known to cause major problems.

I am using the program "Tune-Up Utilities". I also use NTune but I was not using that at the time.

I also just found out that my computer shuts down when i move it or make sudden contact with it. I'm buying a new case soon.

Who created Tune-Up Utilities ? I would stay away from NTune. It sounds like you have a hardware issue, though. When you say sudden contact with the computer, do you mean jyst touching the case on the outside. I wouldn't get a new case until you determine that's the problem. I would look inside for loose cables.
