OS: XP..
CPU/Ram: Q6600 2GB
Product: Intel/G Skill
Comment:

I just finished my new build:

Q6600
Gigabyte Mobo:
http://www.newegg.com/product/produ...
G Skill RAM
8800GT

The computer starts up fine, reads everything, until it's time to boot. It just freezes on the boot screen. I put in the XP disk to reformat the hard drive. It went through all the steps fine until it restarted to install XP. Then it just gets stuck on the screen right before it boots. It recognizes both of my hard drives fine as well. I've tried everything I can think of to no avail. Any help is appreciated and I'd be glad to answer any questions.

Thanks,
Shane

Its 100% ram problem
1.freezing at boot screen
2.stops formating when it (starts loading window)

if u have these problem...you can blame the ram
Test 1 stick at a time
if one of the ram can reach the last part of formating(100% a working ram)
if the other ram doesn't reach the last part of formating(return that useless ram)

As I understand from your post, you turn on your new-built PC and it shows the M/B page with RAM counting and identifying peripheral components such as hard disk, CD-ROM, etc..

What next ? I suggest checking M/B settings, such as boot priority. It should be CD-ROM drive first.

Now boot to a RAM tester bootable disk ( see reply # 2 above ).

If your PC can boot to it, then you probably have a well-built system with one or two components defective. At this point, continue with the RAM test for several hours. Otherwise, suspect a defective CD-ROM drive.

If RAM turns out to be good, suspect a bad WXP disk and test it on another system.

If WXP turns out to be good, then graphics card could be defective.

This story goes on.

Hope the above helps.

Regards
