Hi, I am currently going into my last year of high school, and must get at least a 90% average to be granted into the college of my choice. Therefore, I am selling my desktop (On which I play many games on) to get a laptop solely for school, and web browsing. I would like an estimate on how much I would be able to sell my desktop computer for. Most of the parts are around 6 months old.

Cpu: Amd athlon 64 x2 4600+ (2.4 ghz)
Video Card: Msi geforce 8600gt factory oc (256mb, ddr3)
Ram: 3.5gb (ddr2 pc2-4200)
Sound Card: X-FI Xtremegamer
Hard Drive: Western Digital 186gb sata
Power Supply: MegaPower 520w 32A dual fan
Monitor: 19inch HP Widescreen monitor (Hp w19c)
OS: Windows Vista 32bit Home Premium (OEM)

If possible, any suggestions as to what laptop would be suitable for my desired operation would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I don't think you are going to be able to sell the desktop for a lot of money, a few hundred at best. Vista is not a favorite, not to mention that resale values aren't high in the first place.

You might be better off parting it out.

Looking at the list, I see a few errors:

- motherboard? It's not listed.
- PC2-4200? It's bottlenecking the system...it should be PC2-6400.
- MegaPower 520w? Actually, it's Tisonic/Mega Power. Not exactly a well known brand. From what I've seen, they tend to load up the amperages on the +3.3v & +5v rails to falsely inflate the overall wattage rating of their units.

Without knowing the board, it's tough to suggest a price.

Depending on your college, you might be able to sell the whole system or in parts on either facebook or dailyjolt, and students looking for parts may be interested, though we're almost always looking for something better than a good deal, so you might not get the good price you want. Or ebay...
