Computer not starting/ beeping

Hewlett-packard / Pavilion d4996t
April 15, 2009 at 17:37:57
Specs: Windows vista, Intel core 2 quad Q6600 2.4ghz 4gb of ram
Ok, I was using my computer as normal and a "hp
update" popped up, it was some kind of bios update. Not
expecting anything bad to happen I hit the ok button.
Halfway through the download my computer froze and I
was forced to hold down the power button to shut it off.
Now whenever I turn my computer on the fans spin
but the screen doesn't show anything, after about 30
seconds there are 2 beeps then about 5 second later
there are another 2 beeps this repeats over and over again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you can get to the BIOS (setup) reset it to defaults. If not, note the beep pattern & look it up.

If your system is under warranty I suggest call HP to sort it out .

If out of warranty then open the case and locate the CMOS reset jumper. With power disconnected, place the jumper in the reset position and press power button. Return the jumper to the run position, reconnect power and see if it will start.
Option if you cannot locate the jumper is to remove the CMOS battery for 1 minute and re-insert. ( with power disconnected)

If it still will not boot then I'm afraid the bios has been damaged and motherboard replacement might be your only option.
