Computer not powering on?

Hewlett-packard Pavilion a6030n desktop

Specs: Windows Vista

My friend has a HP Pavilion a6030N desktop that will not power on. There is a steady green light in the back of the tower/case that is ON, however when I press the power button, nothing powers on. I do not hear the fan or anything wrong.

Any solutions to this? This is their main house pc. They are also running windows vista home edition.

Thanks to anyone who took the time to read and/or respond to this post.

If it is the psu(power supply unit) would the steady green light in the back of the tower/case be ON?

How do you switch on the computer without pressing the power button?

Could it be a bad motherboard why it is not powering on?

Fan or nothing starts up. Only I see is the steady green light in the back of the tower/case.

Even though you see a green light, the power supply is still the most likely defective part. It could be the motherboard, but the PSU is the most likely and easiest to swap.

I had this exact problem. The green light was on on the back of the power supply, but nothing happened when I pressed the power button on the top right corner of the computer.

I got a power supply from a working computer and installed it and my computer powered right up.
