Computer Monitor Randomly Black

I have a PC built approximately 6 years ago that I am experiencing random screen blackouts. I have a Radeon 9600XT AGP graphics card on an ASUS A7V8X motherboard. I have replaced the power supply originally included with the case with a Thermaltake 500W Purepower. The computer will still randomly go to a blank screen and stop responding to the mouse and keyboard. The monitor goes blank and the screen turns off, as if the video card is shutting off its output. Is this a video card problem, or a possible motherboard or RAM issue?
